Ga-Goon, Ga-Goon?

Mark and I just got back from our OB appointment for the month. We finally got to hear this baby's heartbeat. It wasn't exactly like Patrick Swayze promised us (no one puts Baby in a corner). According to Mark, it was more like a little chugging sound. Hopefully this doesn't mean my child will have two left feet. Cause rhythm is pretty important for the child of Dance Machine!

The baby is low and to my left side. I've started feeling the baby's flutters. Some say you can tell what you're having by the heart rate. So I looked it up and it said if your baby's heart rate is over 140 it's a girl and if its under 140 it's a boy. Well, what if the heart rate is 140? I guess it will remain a mystery until next Thursday. Only 7 more days!!! Next week expect a whole lot of fun on this here blog! We'll let you know the sex, show pictures and possibly let you know his or her name!

And now, the real magic is starting...I just sneezed! And you moms know what that means.

2 more weeks!

Just realized today is Thursday. We're down to two weeks until we roll into Dr. Hyler's office and (crossing fingers) find out if we have a hot dog or a hamburger bun! In case you're wondering, yes we have names picked. I thought we had a preference, but really we just want a healthy baby. Either way, I'm ready to start planning! Blue or Pink?

Any thoughts??

Pukey the Bear

My husband is great with nicknames. I'm in my second trimester...my new nickname is "Pukey the Bear" ...I thought I was in the clear but it appears I thought wrong. The nickname says it all. Thanks to my sweet husband who always knows how to make me feel better! At least this is all for a good cause. Can't wait to meet the little bear who has done this to me!

Love,
Pukey (the bear)

Pampered Chef

Katheryn had a Pampered Chef party and guess who she invited? ME...and a lot of you! The best part was our Pampered Chef consultant, her sister-in-law Kim.

Katheryn and I became friends because she married one of my best friends, Nathan. We love her.

Kim and I grew up together. Starting from the time of my frightful 9 year old accident. Kim and I always had fun together. We had slumber parties, went to the movies, were in the same dance group, double dated on the weekends, we had Sunday school classes together, Young Women, got eyebrows waxed, heart attacks, left bowling balls on door steps, skanked together, played nickle poker, ate taco pizzas, were roommates...you name it! We had good times.

As most of you know, Pampered Chef parties are centered around food! Who doesn't want to attend one of those? Look at this beautiful spread! Katheryn did such a great job getting everything ready. See the item on the left corner of the table? It was great! So good in fact, I had to order the Season's Best cookbook to get the recipe.

I've been so excited to make those little Jalapeno Popper Pizza bites for my husband. I know he will love them. I can't wait to use the other crafty kitchen tools I got! Now if only I can stay awake long enough to cook my husband some dinner!

Thanks Katheryn for having us all over to party, eat and get some great stuff. Thanks Kim for letting us be your test dummies.

This summer Kim will be coming down to visit and party it up with the rest of us. If anyone is interested in having a Pampered Chef party or needs any products, my girl Kim will get you all hooked up!

Julie Andrews Called

I just answered the shop phone and heard a recording that said "Hi, this is Julie Andrew calling." First of all, I hung up. Then I thought of some magical things that would've happened if the REAL Julie Andrews called!

She wouldn't have said "this is Julie Andrews" she would have SUNG it!

She would not sound like an automated machine

She would've explained to me that the hills ARE alive!

She would've convinced me to escape thru an oil painting and go race some cartoon horses, have a jolly holidy or even feed the birds

She would've asked me to sing with her! (Even though NO ONE sings like Julie Andrews)

She would've told me about a few of her favorite things

She would've asked if I'm Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious, even though the sound of it is something quite atrocious

She would've probably finished up by singing me one of my favorites...
High on a hill was a lonely goatherd
Lay ee odl lay ee odl lay hee hoo
Loud was the voice of the lonely goatherd
Lay ee odl lay ee odl-oo
Folks in a town that was quite remote heard
Lay ee odl lay ee odl lay hee hoo
Lusty and clear from the goatherd's throat heard
Lay ee odl lay ee odl-oo
O ho lay dee odl lee o, o ho lay dee odl ay
O ho lay dee odl lee o, lay dee odl lee o lay
And my reply would have been:
Soon our duet will become a trio
Lay ee odl lay ee odl-oo!!
I love old movies with music. Brings a smile to my heart and joy to my soul!
Don't even get me started about getting a phone call from Doris Day!!

I love Sundays

I just LOVE Sundays. Mark and I only have 1 day a week that is OUR day. We wake up together, we go to church together, we serve in Nursery together and then, we come home and cuddle together...that usually turns into a nap together. Thank you Sunday for being so great to us.
Hope you're enjoying your Sunday!
Now back to the cuddle fest.

Tax day 2004

In honor of tax day, I thought I should tell you about the best $14.95 I've ever spent on April 15th! And it had nothing to do with taxes! (Except the way I'd be filing them in 2005)

Five years ago I was on a dating website. I was only meeting female friends. I figured it was time I should go ahead and cancel my membership. Really, I didn't need more friends in strange places that I'd probably never visit (i.e. Paducah, KY). So I said good bye to everyone before my next billing occurred. Just as I signed off, I got an email "Dear Dancemachine (that's what they used to call me), your subscription is now paid thru May 15th...." I was billed a day early. I decided to sign back in and chat with my lady friends. There was someone new that day...his name was Mark. We decided to exchange pictures and here is what I got. Keep in mind, there were two pictures. The first one was of someone else's car!

Nice onion ring and super nice first impression huh?
I thought he was kinda cute, nice and funny so I kept talking to him- just in case. Then Mark let me know he was going to take some more pictures to send me.

This picture was real. This is when I found out about the tattoos! And I noticed how smokin' hot he is! Its hard not to notice though!

This picture came about a week later...he started getting creative.

The best $14.95 I've ever spent on tax day! Now we've got our own little tax deduction coming!
Today you can get: a free scoop of ice cream at Maggie Moos (local), 15% discount at PF Changs, free Cinnabites at Cinnabon starting from 5pm-8pm (only in malls, not airports or travel centers). Happy Tax day!

Tag, I'm it and possibly you too

I've been tagged. Here are the rules:
1. Go to your documents/pictures
2. Go to your 6th file
3. Go to your 6th picture
4. Post it, and blog about it
5. Tag 6 people to do the same
6. Name your picture

This picture of me and Mark is from my family's office Christmas party in 2006. We went to the Alhambra Dinner Theatre and of course saw a Christmas Carol. They brought Santa out to take pictures. So he sat on the stage in his big chair. Our whole group wanted to get an office picture with him. We were all gathered around him and out of no where my tiny little mama decided she was going to sit on Santa's lap. So she jumped in his lap so happy and told him all the things she wanted for Christmas. It was SO cute! I'll have to find those pictures to scan in and post.

Now I have to tag 6 of you.... Cassie, Katheryn, Deanna, Amanda (Duet), Christina, Jessica and Shauna. I know that's 7 but that's a lucky number of mine!

Michelle, this was for you! Oh...maybe I should blog about Michelle, my MTC companion!

My Sexy Beast

Yep...this man right here is the man I'm spending eternity with! Mark was obviously trying to blend in with the locals when we were visiting Pigeon Forge, TN.
Mark isn't all that social...but he is hilarious! He keeps me (and others) in stitches. He doesn't like large groups and doesn't like meeting new people. He's simple. He loves me and he reminds me every day why I love him. He is a blast! He puts me first and I couldn't ask for better companionship.

Cam-Cam the Big Ham

I've mentioned expecting our first baby. I should probably mention this first baby we're expecting isn't really our first baby! It's our first HUMAN baby!

In late 2004 Mark and I talked about the idea of getting a puppy. We agreed we wanted an English Bulldog. So we started our hunt. Boy were we surprised at how expensive a bulldog puppy is. So we started looking at adoption. We filled out an application on http://www.rescuebulldogs.org/ looked at the pictures of available bullies that were no where near us. Finally in June 2005 someone called us out of the blue to find out if we were still interested in adoption. We of course said yes! Adopting a bulldog is not exactly easy. You can see we were on a waiting list for quite a while. They needed to come over, check out our living situation, our yard, our fence and make sure we have air conditioning in our cars. The plan was for them to come up, check us out and we would then arrange to go pick her up from Ocala. The day of, they called us to let us know they had a really good feeling about us and wanted to bring the dog, in case we want to keep her. We were SOOO thrilled!

Cami is one of the best dogs ever! She's WONDERFUL with children of all ages (especially babies), she's very gentle (last name and all now) and sweet as can be. With all the late hours Mark has been working since opening his shop 3 years ago, she has been right there beside me to be my buddy and keep me company. Cami is deaf...so you can call her what you'd like. She does three tricks with hand signals: sit, high five and every one's favorite...break dance. And the way you get her to break dance is pull out a white baby wipe, paper towel, toilet paper, napkin, tissue...ANYTHING! She will shake her booty in the air with her shoulder down and spin in a circle. Since she can't reach back there...she'll do anything to get her bum rubbed! Cami is allergic to almost everything! Her skin is ultra sensitive. And she can't swim. Bulldogs are sinkers. So they (we) have to be very careful. She is a lot of work but she is way more reward. We know she's SOOO excited to be a big sister.

We have lots of nicknames for Cami. First one we came up with was for her snoring. And by snoring I mean like Big David Rochester (Kim you know what I mean). If I call Mark, I can hear Cami snoring through the phone. When she sleeps, she's out. Its as if she's hibernating. So we call her a bear. And since she's white...sometimes she's a polar bear! When she eats or sniffs something, she sounds like a pig. Therefore, she's also called "PIG." And there are tons of variations with pig and bear it. Sometimes she's even "Dog-Bear-Pig."

Cami has been our baby while we were unable to have a baby. She comes to the shop with me every day and everyone loves our pig! So now, I wanted to share with you pictures of my sweet little lady.

In honor of Easter, here is our Easter Pig! Her eyes even look like Easter eggs. Thank you red eye reduction! Notice Mark scratching her rump to keep her still for the picture.

This was in our first home. Mark was so overwhelmed by the heat he had to shave his head...and look at our big pig!

This was Thursday night at the shop. See how tired she looks?

This was in her FAVORITE place...the back seat of my car. Cami LOVES to go for a ride. She owns the back seat! In the summer I usually have to put her up front so she can get cooled off faster.
Whatever bad things have been said about Bulldogs is all lies. These dogs are GREAT family dogs! Mark and I have truly been blessed to have this sweet little spirit in our lives. In June Cami will be 7. That is OLD for a Bulldog. We hope to have her for many more years. She has brought so much happiness into our home and our hearts.

Great at 38

My family has always been pretty good size and we LOVE a family get-together. We went to Johnny and Nikki's house Tuesday night for Johnny's 38th birthday!! Since I'm trying to get better about taking pictures and actually having my camera on me...please stand-by while I'm self indulgent!

John Herbert II was born April 7, 1971. He is the firstborn of John and Faye Gullett. He weighed in at 9lbs. Our mom is a small lady and to throw out a 9lb baby from the start-you know her mom must've been proud! He was quite the handsome little dude. Johnny has always been good at everything he does. We all looked up to him for that. Growing up, he took good care of us and was a VERY protective big brother. He's always been very hard working. Whether working on a school project with his kids, in his yard, at his office, eating something tasty or even helping his family move, he still puts everything into what he's doing and doesn't quit til the job is done right. He used to race his Mustang and was the the first Mustang in his class to reach 200 mph in the 1/4 mile, which is INCREDIBLE! On a beautiful day like today, you might find him flying his plane or taking his kids off for a fun day at the fair. He has been married for 16.5 years to my sister-in-law Nikki and has 4 beautiful children. We love having him in our family.

The brothers-Left to right...Jason (Cassie's Husband), Mark (my sexy cuddly bear), Johnny (Birthday boy) and Jo-Jo (our little brother). Handsome group huh?
Then I tried to get Dad in the picture...but Jason snuck out the door to leave. If only I had photoshop! But you can see Big John in the back.

We love you Johnny and hope 38 is just as great as 28!! :)

Hump-day, Ole!

Hello Amigas! My sweet Mark is a hard-working man. He knows there's a job to do and he does it. Sometimes He's so focused that he forgets to come home and eat dinner. Wait, he doesn't forget to eat dinner, he does forget to look at a clock and realize its TIME to come home and eat dinner. Let's be honest...eating out is SO much easier than cooking, so a lot of times...we eat out.

Wednesday afternoon Mark decided he wanted to leave the shop early and go to dinner at Campeche Bay! I shook my maracas and away we went. We LOVE our drive to the beach on a beautiful night and a beautiful dinner to go with it.

This was taken when we came out...we actually got there while a little daylight was left!
Who can have Mexican without chips and salsa? Red's hot Green snot! :)

This is just how excited Mark was to get there. We didn't even open the menus. We are creatures of habit and always order the same things.

This is my dinner. I always order the Campechangas. Like its brother the chimichanga except WAY better! It is filled with a cream cheese and meat mixture that will knock your sombrero off! My sister-in-law Amanda LOVES Campeche Bay. When she visits, its always on her list of places to go.

This is Mark's dinner. In case you're asking yourself "Is that a fish taco?" The answer is YES! That's a fish taco. It is made with Mahi-Mahi and it is super tasty. Mark always gets a tres combination (that's what they call it, not me) with a shredded beef burrito, a fish taco and something else. This time he got two burritos because he really LOVES them! :)

It was a beautiful full moon and we had beautifully full bellies. Thank you Mark for the surprise hump day date! It's always nice to spend time together away from the shop! :)
P.S. I rubbed some bath oil in my hair...so I looked FABULOUSLY greasy...which is why I'm not in any date night pictures! Hasta luego!

Gullett Family Angel

April 9, 1977- John and Faye Gullett welcomed their 3rd child Joshua Haney Gullett into the family. He weighed 8lbs 8 oz. He was the 2nd smallest child in the family. Smallest being 8lbs 6 oz. Our mom was a baby machine!

Here you can see his sweet little "Just from Heaven" cheeks.

Joshua had a big brother named Johnny (6) and a big sister Cassie (almost 2). (Sorry the picture wouldn't come out of the memory book)
Most people didn't know Joshua came to a family who was going thru very difficult times. Mom and Dad had nothing going for them spiritually and their relationship was rocky (to say the least). They were done having children and were ready to split. They told us Joshua woke up each morning with a smile on his sweet face. On good days, Joshua played with Mom and Dad for an hour each morning before Dad left for work.
June 21, 1977-Unfortunately the last time that sweet little morning smile was seen. Mom and Dad's sweet little baby went to be with Heavenly Father. He died of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) aka crib death. Doctors could not explain to these two devastated people why their baby would now be their angel. And what an angel he was!

The Jax 6th Ward (LDS Church) of angels reached out to Mom and Dad. They loved them, they welcomed them in and they didn't give up. Mom and Dad realized how important they were to each other, how important the Gospel was in their lives and wanted more than anything to see their little Angel again.
October 12, 1978- The John Gullett family was sealed in the Washington, D.C. Temple. A family that was so close to being broken would now be bound together for eternity.
August 21, 1979-Welcome Casey Rebecca Gullett! A portly little 10 lbs 1oz girl. (That's right, I used portly and little next to each other!) Then 4 years later my little brother Joseph Hyrum came along.
Because of my Angel brother, our family stayed together and became forever. He was part of our family's plan. His short little 2.5 months was HUGE for our eternal progression.
Today is a very special and sacred day for my family. We celebrate and remember our sweet Angel Joshua. Happy Birthday Joshua! I look forward to the day I can meet you and we finally embrace!

Pork Chop Downs

If you think a funnel cake and rides are the only reasons to get yourself to the fair, you're wrong! As I mentioned yesterday, my 2nd favorite thing about the fair is the pig racing! They have 20 pigs. 5 pigs in each heat...which if you do your math, that means there are 4 different heats.

The first heat had wild pigs. These pigs had names like "Shakin' Bacon."

Here you can see them running for the finish line.
The second heat had domesticated piglets. These had great names like Britney Spareribs and Christina Hogulara.
The 3rd heat...well I can't remember what kind of pigs anymore but they were cute enough to take pictures of! Their names were more like Nascar racers- Tony Stewmeat and Jeff Gortham,
Then they brought out the fastest heat....the Asian Pot Bellied Pigs. These sizzling sausages were quite the sight! This was the fastest guy out there. He was pretty much pork lightning! Can you see how difficult it is to get a good picture because he is moving so fast? I think he finished in 5 minutes.
And here he goes getting to the final turn and then straight to victory lane...but that's not really saying much! After all, the other 4 were still back at the start using the bathroom and eating!
2nd place pig right here...wait til you see the side view.
That is 315 lbs of bacony goodness! :)
These are the three little pigs. They had the hardest time getting anywhere. I think they were too hungry to make it all the way around the track!
Can you believe they actually moved? Not #4 in the blue...but #1 is really working it!
Finally, to get the rest of them back in, they had a 7 year old huff and puff and blow them to the finish line. Well, maybe he just gave them a tap on the rump roast to get them moving in the right direction.

If you've never seen the pig races at the fair...do yourself a favor- go out and root for a pig! You will at least have a good laugh!

Clay County Fair

I was invited to the fair with my family. I can't deny the power of fair food! If a carney doesn't make a funnel cake, its just not the same! I don't go every year, but when I go...I GO all out. I go with plenty of cash and an empty belly. Going thru the gates with me were: my little brother Jo-Jo (a.k.a. Steak & Potatoes), his daughter Madison, my mom Faye and my dad Big John (Mammaw and Pappaw to the kids). Madi is pretty much my mom made over! She has the Rhoden side eyes for sure! I was trying to keep her from falling. My mom was trying to keep her from eating dirt. Does dirt really hurt? I consider it a filler! I know dirt happens!

Here we are cheesing for the camera. This is Madi posing for me. She is almost 16 months.Of course the hat tent is an important part of the fair! She loved this cowgirl hat...but who doesn't?! I wish you could've seen her take it off! I wish even more that I could've caught it on camera.
I was very surprised that my big brother John was there with half his kids. Left to right is John, Brittney (14) and little Johnny (10) getting their selves scrambled! I can't believe the amount of fun I had watching them ride the rides. Being the thrill-seeker that I am, I always thought that would be lame. I was wrong!
Pappaw, Mammaw and half their grand kids...at least until this year. They currently have 6, before Halloween they will have 8! Not so spooky! Currently we're even, 3 girls and 3 boys. Cassie is having a girl next month...will we even up the score with a boy or will the girls win with another little lady??
Who can resist trying to knock the annoying clown into the dunking booth? Brittney got really close, then Little Johnny threw a few his way. Jo-Jo went two rounds. He was SOOO close! Actually hit the bullseye once but evidently not hard enough. Even the power of the Braves shirt couldn't bring down the clown!
What day at the fair is complete without ice cream??? That's my mom having a small vanilla cone! My medium was the same size. If you go, save your extra dollar and get a small- unless you want a waffle cone!
Little Johnny is enjoying his chocolate cone. Don't you love his red hair? All 3 of our nephews have red hair! Each a different shade and beautiful! Thanks to Mammaw for passing it along!
Brittney and I had the swirl...although our swirls were mostly vanilla.

I've always loved the fair! The smells, rides, carneys, slides, fish in a bag, carnivals, animals, friends, concerts, fun, shows and memories. Tomorrow, I'll post some pics of my 2nd favorite thing at the fair- Pig Races!

Its Raining, Its Pouring, the old man is snoring

I don't believe he bumped his head on the way into bed. When it rains, I sleep WAY better too!

My mom always taught me to love the rain. She talked about having a tin roof growing up and how they would listen to the rain hit it. It was like music. There was always a reason to enjoy the rain. I even remember being in Yellowstone Park camping out in the rain. We woke up and found My dad and my brothers all sleeping in the van. Us girls slept just fine! We always made the best out of any situation. My dad would tell us we were making memories...and boy did we do plenty of that!

Being home was a little different. Each time there was a storm we had a family plan: turn off the big tv, all the lights and everyone jumped into Mom's bed. We'd cuddle up and watch her tv in the dark and listen to the rain. Days like these make me want to call her up and jump in bed with her.

I certainly hope one day Mom will get her tin roof, a nice rocking chair and a great rain storm- even if she's just stuck at Cracker Barrel!

What did your family do during different weather conditions?
